The war in Ukraine is testing another Russian neighbour, Georgia, as thousands flee Vladimir Putin’s rule to seek refuge in the capital Tbilisi. Georgian authorities estimate at least 112,000 Russians emigrated to Georgia in 2022. Locals in the city say it is now commonplace to hear Russian spoken on the streets, and has also led to a rental squeeze, leading to a strained coexistence.
